Competitive Cycling
Around the Mountain Cycle Challenge
The Around the Mountain Cycling Challenge is a 148km cycle race around Mount Taranaki . Parafed Taranaki enters into the relay race which consisted of multiple riders and multiple stages. The stages range from 17km to 35km. This race can be done on, bicycles, hand cycles, trikes, or tandems. Each year we will ask for interest and then work out logistics from that.
Paralympics NZ Cycling Camp
Paralympics New Zealand held a cycling talent ID camp annually in Taranaki. This is at the Bell Block Cycle Park and takes place over a weekend in the summer months. This camp is a chance for individuals to learn more about para-cycling, get to test different bicycles, for example, hand cycles, tandems, trikes and get classified. Furthermore this camp could be a progression into a national squad.
